Highlights of her 20 + year career include tours in Japan and Korea with the Mantovanni Orchestra, working as the principle violist for the Naples Philharmonic, and performances with the Russian Ballet Orchestra, and Tampa Bay Opera. Ms Lorence is a founding member of the Boone, North Carolina band The Mountain Laurels. The group performs a blend of Celtic and Appalachian fiddle music from the roots culture of Western North Carolina. The band has released two CDs and can be heard on Pandora’s Celtic Channel. Highland Bloom (2012) and Edge of the Dance (2015) were recorded in Rhonda’s Deep Gap, NC studio. Rhonda released two CDs of her original compositions, Winter Moon (2005) and Movements in the Moment (2010). Her compositions “Changing Tides” and “Winter Moon”, and Embracing Heart” have been featured on Music Choice satellite channels and NPR radio.

As a composer, Lorence’s classical training, extensive performance career, and passion for the violin and viola combine to create a unique neoclassical sound. Critics have describe her style as the meeting of Richard Wagner, John Williams and Phillip Glass – some of the best contemporary instrumental music (New Age Reporter) and so haunting…(it) goes straight to the soul (WERU-FM, East Orland, Maine). Winter Moon was nominated in four categories for the New Age Reporter Lifestyle Awards in 2005. Films and ballets have licensed numerous compositions from her CDs.
